Arizona Wild Bird Photos

IN NO WHERE DESERT ARIZONA

This is the last of the photos from the June 16, 2002
three day watch at my site in the desert.

**********************************

The Scott's Oriole would fly into my site every day at 12:30 P.M. sharp,
give or take a few minutes, but never more than 5 minutes either way.

It would first land on the hummingbird feeder pole,
then fly to the bushes just below the caged feeder tray,
then to the open seed tray and perch on its outer edge,
and then to an apple I had cut in half
and stuck on a nail in the center of that tray.
It seems to prefer the apples over the oranges for some reason.

*******************************

To learn more about this bird click the photo.

You only see one leg because the other one is on that apple.
It will take a few pecks out of this apple and then fly to the one in the center of the tray.

*********************************

It never eat from the open surface I had cut, but rather it would peck
a hole through the skin and eat from the other side of the apple.
(crazy bird)

**************************

Some times it would just hop to the other side of the seed tray
and then fly down to drink.

*********************

After the apples it world sample a few bites of the orange.

And then back to the apple.

*********************

Just thought you might want to view a Scott's Oriole from the back side.
As I have said many times in the past, I always like to photograph the birds from as many angles as I can.

************************************

Just incase your wondering if it ever goes to the seed tray with the
Dove proof cage on it, here is a photo to show you that it does.

***************************

These birds make a liar out of me every time.

I had never seen it use one the 2 inch square holes before.
It had always used one of the 4 inch square hole before this photo.

**********************

Well, that's about it for now. Inasmuch as the weather is blistering hot, I may only
visit my site once a week to replenish the see and water and not stay to take any photos for a while.

Check back from time to time, you just never know when
I may go back out there for a 2 or 3 day watch again.

I believe it's the water that's holding or keeping all of the birds coming back so I will really work on that.

Thanks for taking the time to view and all of this.

**************************

Keep the water coming Earle
