IN NO WHERE DESERT ARIZONA

August 08/2002 4:00 P.M. Temp. 116 clear skies no wind - heavy sweating.

It is unbelievably HOT, average day time temp. is 115 degrees
and no rain in sight, and there has been no rain in 8 months now.

Most all plant life has turned brown & is crispy.
The Palo Verdi trees don't look bad yet, the Saguaro cacti have
bloomed and seeded but are starting to show the lack of water.

In the past few weeks I have only gone to the site to put out seed and bring water & more water & more water.
The 20 plus gallons I keep on the just is not enough to even last a week.
There for I have installed a 100 + gallon water supply system.
What a JOLT that was putting into operation. I am not even going to tell you how I did that.
But rest assured it was much hard work.

As you can see all is ready, I haven't got the automatic watering pan I have ordered yet.
Should have it in a few days. It will connect to that rolled up green hose in the photos.
In the right photo you can see 3 small dark objects on the left side of the photo,
these are 8 gallon water fonts and there is one hidden by the water barrels.
That means 32 gallons of water is disappearing in less than 7 days.
I know some is due to evaporation but how much I do not know.

The new automatic watering pan will only hold one gallon of water,
the top will be 50% covered, hopefully this will cut down
on the evaporation and still allow the desert critters to get a drink.

If the weather cools a bit this week end 08/10 & 08/11 I may camp on
the site to see just what is eating and drinks these hot days.

Remember to keep checking in from time to time.
