IN NO WHERE DESERT ARIZONA

February 2, 2003

Winter is still with us and there just isn't much going on out here. I would guess there are about 100 White-crowned sparrows on the ground under the many bushes. At least 2 dozen Sage Sparrows and a few I can not ID. It's been 2 weeks since I was last there and do believe they were all waiting for me to show up and put out my usual 20 to 30 pounds of seed and about a dozen oranges. The Black-tail Jacks were waiting for there rabbit pellets, how do I know this?? As soon as I put them out they came in and started eating. The Antelope squirrels are down to just a couple every now & then maybe they are all hibernating. More than likely it is the water that is holding them there as the water from the sky has been very slim in the past few months.

That's all for now but I will keep posting every 2 weeks or so.
