IN NO WHERE DESERT ARIZONA

March 03, 2003

Well I think old man winter has finally given up in this area and it was warm enough to work in a T-shirt today.

All 2 or 3 dozen oranges I put out a couple of weeks ago were cleaned out to the rine so I replenished them today.

Dumped out another 25 pounds of seed in the feeders. I have 2 suet blocks out which nothing is eating, I even put cut oranges next to them to no avail.

Inasmuch as I now have 150 gallons of water there it is hard to tell just how much they are drinking however I believe it is about 10 gallons a week.

Don't know who or what is drinking it but some thing sure is. The water is more of a draw to the wild life than the food I put out I am quite sure.

I was only there long enough to cut up the oranges and put them out and to load the seed feeders but I did notice my one Curved-billed Thrasher now has a friend and where one goes the other follows closely so, I would guess there will be a nest shortly. I didn't notice any other bids today except the Doves, but I was only there for about an hour and when I am working around the site no one/birds comes in to eat or drink. Now that the weather is warming I shall attempt to make more trips.

Maybe in the next two or three weeks the birds will start to come in more or be more active.

That's all for now but I will keep posting every 2 weeks or so.

Next visit 03/22/03
