Arizona Wild Bird Photos

IN NO WHERE DESERT ARIZONA

01/04/2004

It has been approx. 13 months since I have seen the Sage Sparrow.
However on this Sunday Jan. 05-04 it once again appeared picking up seed under the feeder same as last year on 12/08/02. It's not as jumpy as the other sparrows and does not seem to care if I move around a bit. It was so close to me I had to go to the car and get a lens that would focus at 4 to 5 feet from the camera. If you want to check out last year's sighting click here.

I noticed I said it was in the high 60's then, but this year it is 30* when I arrived at 6 A.M
& 40* at 3 P.M. clear skies and a very brisk wind out of the northwest.

The Sage Sparrow will be the only bird I will show here because you have seen all of the rest. I now have approx. 12 Gila Woodpeckers eating my oranges and peanut butter.

Well here it is 01/11/04 and am just getting the photos on that I promised you over a week ago. Photo place gave my stuff to some one else, guess I am lucky to have gotten it back.

A new bird for my feeder lot in the desert, I have seem them in the general area in the past but never at my place to eat.

It only flew in pecked a few seeds and few away not to be seem any more that day.

My first new bird for 2004

As you can see with all of the rain we have had things have started to green up a bit.

Spotted Towhee just in case you did not know what it was.

Well as in the beginning and a month late showing up is my one and only Sage sparrow.
I say one and only because I never see more one at a time here.

Even though I have shown it before it's still fun to rephotograph it and put it on line,
besides there just ain't much going on out so far.

*********************

It's unafraid acting I believe it would go home with me if I were to it to.

Well you have seen it front. back, & side now.

Over looking the feeder lot is my old friend Mr. Black-throated sparrow

It must of sat there for at least 30 minuets watching me photograph the other birds so I just up and shot it for you'al ta see.

There every where you look out here.

As you may already know the Gambles Quail group up in the winter and they swarm down on my bird feed like a bunch of Piranha fish.

Forget the Dove hunting season and let's have a Quail season before they eat me out of house & home so to speak.
