SOARING
Seems like this is about all most folks ever see a Turkey Vulture do.
For several years this is all I ever saw them do. Then, finally, one day, I found Turkey Vultures not flying.

There is one thing we need to look at before we go much farther into this program.
***************************
See any thing different about this bird in comparing it in general to other large birds,
such as Hawks for instance?
**********************************************
Let's zoom in for a closer look.
A face only its mother could love.
Note the absence of feathers on the head area.
Since they mostly eat carrion (dead & putrefying flesh),
I would assume that the lack of feathers in the head area would be most beneficial.
In reading about the Turkey Vulture I find that they do not prefer Putrefied flesh.
It's the one or two day old dead carcasses that they prefer.
It is also said that will catch and eat whole small animals such as rodents and such.
This it is said is because they need the calcium from the bones of their prey.
The common name Turkey Vulture comes from the red flesh in the head area,
because it looks like a turkey.
