I just can't seem to stay away from the Grand Canyon.
I can remember the 1965 Robert Wise's song and movie
"The Sound of Music"
So I have decided to call this trip to the Grand Canyon
THE SOUNDS OF NUTCRACKERS

Deciding to take a break from my photography, I went to the Bright Angel for lunch.
A large crowd was on the walkway and being as nosey as anyone else I decided to have a look see at what was going on there. Well, it turned out to be quite interesting.
I shall call this "The Telescope Man" thing.
Well, I guess the crowd wasn't really as big as I had thought.
My goodness, just what is this contraption anyway says the boy in the back??

As more and more folks gathered around I decided to stay a while to see what it was all about.

OH, it's a telescope of great magnitude. It was pointed across the canyon at the lodge on the North rim some 12 plus miles away.
Note the boy in the chair in the left back ground.
The man on the right in the red shirt is the owner, designer, & builder of this telescope.

Now this really caught my eye.
This so neat I just gotta have one.
It will hold your binoculars or camera, privets, goes up &
down all while you just sit and relax in the chair.

I just have to get a peak through that giant thing, so here goes.
North rim lodge is 12+ miles away across the canyon North and I can't see it with my naked eyes.
OH, WOW, kinda makes a fella dizzy, better straighten this image up.

OK, that's much better. 12 + miles away, what a JOLT to be able to see that far away.
I've been to the North rim and that truly is the lodge.

This was all part of a Star Club's information to get you to come out to YAVAPIA point to view the stars, they were there all through June and at the point all night long to let you look through their telescopes and explain what you were looking at.
