TID-BITS

07/19/07

*********************************************

It's been 112/115 degrees now for over 24 days straight here in the greater Phoenix, Arizona area.

I am well past well done by now so I think I shall head for the Grand Canyon's South Rime area. It's at approx. 7000 feet and should be a bit cooler.

OH, it is cooler. 50 degrees at night & 70's/80's in the day with a rain shower almost every afternoon.

If you been to my site before you no doubt have seen my TID-BITS on BOGGY TANK. This was my first stop this trip.

********************************

Dryer than dry. It took a 5 pound hammer to drive that steel pole 6 inches into what normally is 12 inches of mud.

***************************************

OK, just as soon as I can take my pocket knife to make a hole in the bottom.

********************************

In less time than it would have taken me to have taken a few steps out of the way here they came.

Pygmy Nuthatches. Note the water dripping in the dish?

********************************

******************************************

A new comer, I believe it is a Chipping Sparrow.

********************************************

Hey, I don't normally drink with common ole Sparrows.

********************************************************

Being a nice and well bred Chipping Sparrow it left.

********************************

So they both left.

*******************************************

Well if they are both finished arguing I think I shall try my luck that nice water

*********************************

Looks good so far.

*****************************************

Better keep an eye out for that old Pygmy Nuthatch it may not Lark Sparrows either.

********************************************************

I had better hurry before they come back in force.

******************************************

And ythey did.

************************************************

It was so dry and windy only a very few birds came to drink.

*********************************************************************

The last time I was here. And the time before that.
