Boggy Tank 11/07

This will be the last time I visit Boggy Tank in 2007

Inasmuch as Boggy Tank is the only water around many birds come here to drink.

In order to get good photos I thought I would get the birds to perch on twigs while getting there drink of water.
They seem to like this better than walking up to the water's edge.

This means I must walk around the area and pick up many small branches or twigs and place them at the water's edge in a random sort on way. I other words just toss those sticks in the water and let then stay where they land.

Well, that didn't take long at all. I just tossed them at the water's edge and let them fall .

What's that white stuff that looks like bird seed you say?? It is just that.

Most of the birds I will be photographing will not eat bird seed, how ever, the seed will attract all the small seed eating birds, and the other birds see them they fly in to see what is going on. Hope-a- hope.

You might think me wrong but your about to see differently.

Let's get started

As I was setting up my equipment a comfortable canvas chair 2 very-very small butterflies came flitting in, I guess they were drinking up some of the moisture in the mud at the edge of the pond, now that's only a guess on my part. There wing span on these small butterflies was only 1 inch if that.

I don't know the names, but if you please let me know.

Humm, I do believe it's going to climb out of that hole.

And so it did.

Guess I had better start a new page for the Western Bluebirds.

At any given time while I was photographing there where at least, (and this is a very conservative number) 200 plus birds flying, on the ground, or perched in trees arond the pond. At the wood pile at the edge of the water it was "TAKE A NUMBER" if you want to perch and drink.
