Know that we all know how to remove the birds, let's get to work.

RECORD KEEPING
AND
DISCUSSION TIME AT THE BANDING TABLE
This is the time you get to ask all of those questions you have been waiting to ask all day.
***********************
Caleb will take what ever time it takes to point out any and all significant things he thinks should be discussed.
It also is a good photo opportunity for a once in a life time close up photos you won't get any other time.
*************************************
Many times Caleb will point out the differences between the Sparrows. Once again you will be allowed to quiz him to any length about the birds.

*****************************
One of the more interesting things I saw was, When Caleb would try to release the birds back into the wild they would just sit in his hands for as much as up to one minute.

I know, viewing this web site is not as much fun as going on a Sparrow banding trip with Caleb. However, I do hope my few photographs have given you some insight on just what goes on when you volunteer to help Caleb Gordon out with his Sparrow banding research program.

OOOOOPS
All most forgot one thing I had talked about in the beginning.
Remember I said, have you ever been so close to a Sparrow you see that the white ring around its eye is really made up of very small feathers?
****************************
Well, here is a couple photos I was able to take of that very thing.
Remember now, I was hand holding my camera, Caleb was hand holding the Sparrow, so it wasn't like we were on a tripod rock solid. The photos are a bit soft focus, but all in all not to bad for being only a couple of inches away from the bird when I snapped it. Plus I didn't want the bird to have to be held any longer that it had to be for this photo.
