Photographed in **Rio Salado** south central Phoenix 01/21/08
**What's a Rio Salado ( The Salt River ) http://phoenix.gov/RIOSALADO/
************************************
After finding the heaviest underbrush and a small creek running through it I settled down to see what birds would happen by.
There were many and in a few minutes the Thrush made its first of many appearances.
OH, what a beautiful bird.
A Varied Thrush not native to Arizona but a very nice winter visitor
**********************************
I believe it heard the sound of my camera shutter going off and took off.
*********************************
I didn't fly far, just across the creek and perched on a tree trunk.
*****************************************
It looked in both directions many times before flying back across the creek.
*************************************
When it did fly back to my side of the stream it kept its back to me most of the time.
Blends in with the back ground don't you think? It it was laying down I'll bet it would really be difficult to see.
***************************************
OH yes, it can see me and as long as I don't move I think all will A-OK.
Take photos OK, talking OK, moving around not OK, it could not handle people moving around.
****************************************
It's scoping the area out thoroughly for any possible threats.
*****************************
And just then
decided to get up and walk around.
*****************************************
It flew back in and perched giving us all a nasty look.
*******************************
You photographers had better behave and stop moving around or I am outa here.
