Bill shorter and not quite as curved as a Curved-bill Thrasher.
Also the base of the lower mandible is pale. Don't know what the mandible is? Click here.

Spots on breast may not always be visible especially in worn summer plumage.

As many people have always ask; do both parent birds tend the chicks in the nest.
As you see, one picture is worth a 1000 words.

When the chicks are very young it is very hard to get good photos.
Until the chicks are old enough to raise their heads above the nest edge, about
all you can see is like the photo above.

As long as the parents are bring
food the nest, you know there must be chicks down in the nest.

I never stay more than a few minutes if that long photographing a nest,
plus I use a very long tele-photo lenses so as not to have to get close to the nest.

In these photos of the Bendire's Thrashers I was able to photograph them from my car.
I doubt if they even knew I was there. Besides the nest site was right on the edge of the roadway and at a slightly lower level.
