White-throated Swift
**********************************************************************
Photographed at the Grand Canyon South Rim 05/09/06
****************************
Approximately 6 to 7 inches in length all white throat & belly.
They also have very pointed black wings and a long tail that has a notched end.
They catch and eat small flying bugs while souring or flying.
It's only a guess on my part, but, while watching then at the Canyon I'll bet they can fly approx.70 MPH.
***************************************************
The movement of the bird as I walked by caught my eye and sure enough it is a White-throated Swift.
**************************************
************************************************
It flew over to this wire so fast I almost didn't see it go.
********************************************************
I no sooner snapped a photo and it flew.
By keeping my shutter on continuos operation I sometimes get a good photo
but this is not one of those times but it helps show the wing shape.
*************************************************************
Back lit photos are not to good but it does show the front side of the bird.
*********************************************
Another wing shape photo. Also note the head color.
The back of the bird is this color too but I just couldn't get it to turn around for me. :-))
**********************************************************
Here it's looking into the Pygmy Nuthatch cavity,
it never went in side but flew to look many times while I was there.
**********************************************************************
This is a soft focus image because I had to crop it so much in order to show
the notched tail (arrow) and the black pointed wings.
