*********************************
Returning a few days later I found all but a few eggs had hatched.
I believe there is one egg hatching as we watch. No parent birds in site for over 30 minutes.
********************************************
Parent bird bringing a lizard to the nest.
I knew the bird could not see me because my cameras were set up some 35 feet away
from the nest with a 500 mm lenses looking straight into the nest and
one looking down into the nest. Both being operated via a radio controlled devise
by me sitting in my car out on the road. Also the cameras were covered with a camouflaged netting.
Note the back of the eye area coloring.
I had thought this was a sign of the bird being stressed, it may be but I am now not sure about it.
************************************
The lizard is bigger than the chick it is being fed to.
*********************************
After about 45 minutes the chick ( believe it or not ) it got that lizard down.
This leads me to believe that acid in the birds stomach is so strong
that it devolves the food as it goes in because that lizard was bigger than the chick.
