******************************
In order to get a good viewable image I had to take two photos.
The parent bird sat on top of the cactus most all day.
It never did bring any food to the two nestlings that day.
I stayed in my car taking the photos from an open window so as not to scare the birds.

Closer view of the two nestlings.
**********************************
I was about to leave when one of the young birds started exercising its wings rather vigorously.
Sure enough it flew from the nest landing in a small bush/shrub
at or near the base of the cactus the nest was in.
Perhaps it didn't look where it was landing,or wanted the bush break its fall.
I say fall because that was basically what it was. Perhaps it was a controlled crash.
**************************************
Before I even had time to think about it the second flew off the nest,
however it did make a smoother landing.
If I could only get it to turn around.
*********************************
Now that's much better don't you think?
*************************
The next morning I did go back just see if the chicks were still around.
Yep; there they were just as if they had never left the nest,
and the parent bird was still on the top of the cactus just above the nest.
