9 inches tall, long legs and will crouch down or look like they are bowing when approached.
Nest in burrows in the ground. Most of my sightings have been along canal water ditches.

These Owls can imitate the sound of a Rattle Snake as a defense.
Diet; insects, mice, ground squirrels, snakes, & other small inhabitants of the desert.
