Pacific Loon

Gavia pacifica

Approximately two feet long, a very narrow bird.
Almost impossible to tell from the Arctic Loon. Also note the black cap extends down into the eye.

Map and range not to any scale.

Map showing where bird was photographed.

As the sun moved across the sky the light and the color of the water would change.

I'll tell ya, this bird had its head under the water more than above the water.

Another shad diving sequence.

I just know those slippery lil shad are down there.

******************************

OH, OH, I think I see'em

********************************************************

OH YA, their down here all right.

******************************************************

Just gotta try one more time for a delicious shad snack.

************************************************************

Note where the legs are located on this bird.
I doubt if it could walk on dry land.

One last image.

Those lil ole shad are the tastiest things ever.
