Dark-eyed Junco -- Red-backed Race

While bird watching in the Sitgreaves National Forest I was walking along side the road and almost stepped on this nest. The ditch along side the road was very shallow and partially filled with water. The nest seems to be dug out down under the grass level at the waters edge. The nest seemed to be dry, however I did not feel inside the nest, I am just assuming that the parent bird would not lay eggs and raise chicks in a wet nest.

The next day I discovered I could see the nest from the road without getting out of my car so I stopped for a few minutes and here are the photos I got.

Ah yes; nest duties.
Just in case you don't know what is happening here,
the parent bird is carrying off one of the chicks fecal sacks.
