A few more images taken around Elgin, Arizona 2/25/07
I really like how the digital camera handles the back ground.
These images are of a female Norhtern Harrier searching the grassland near Elgin, Arizona.
Photographed from a 1/4 mile away using a 600 mm plus a 2X tele convereter on a Nikon D70s.

This is an immature bird photographed at the;
Gilbert, Arizona. 12/03/06

This bird caught me by surprise, meaning I didn't know it was there so I was not ready to take any photos when it got up.
Plus it was late after noon and the light was not good.
********************
Cropping the photos beyond any good use I could see that it had a small rabbit in its talons.
******************************************
Photos taken with a D70s - 80mm to 400mm VR @ max magnification using a 2 X teleconver.
In other words the bird was a long ways away.
In this image the bird was on its way down to get that rabbit.

******************************************
It's about to make its dive on the rabbit.
****************************************
It got the rabbit and flew out of range with it across the field.
I don't/wont chase birds just get a photo, so left it alone to eat on the other side of the field.
