In looking through my James Lipton book "An Exaltation of Larks"
I find all sorts of names for other bird groups, such as. "A Party of Jays",
"A charm of Finches", "A Convocation of Eagles", "A Host of Sparrows",
and so on & so forth.
But, I find nothing for Grosbeaks.
So, I have decided to invent my own name for them.

"A GROSS OF GROSBEAKS"
By Earle.
So that you will under stand just what it is I have done to get this photo, read on.
I have taken two 4 by 6 inch photos and put them together end to end.
Scanned them into one image, and this is what you are looking at.
I purposely did not try to hide the seam between the two photos.

John R. Ellison invited me up to his house in Flagstaff, Arizona to photograph
the multitude of Evening Grosbeaks that visited his front yard every morning
in the early spring of 1999.
The following images are what I saw and photographed.
