Because both of these birds have black wing tips, many get them mixed up. Even though the Ross' is approx. 25% smaller and has a more rounded head, I have shown a very good way to distinguish them apart. As you can see by the photos above the Ross' does not have what is called the "Grinning Patch"on the lower half of its bill.
