When ever I would go to the nest in the middle of he day,
this is what the female Finch would be doing.

Just in case you don't know what she's doing,
she is blocking the sun from getting on her chicks.

While shading her chicks from the sun, the male Finch
would fly to the nest, and perching behind her would feed the chicks.
The black arrow is pointing out the male Finch in he background feeding the chicks.

As you can see in this image the chicks are pretty well feathered out. It is Wednesday 04/26/00.
I would guess by this week the oldest chick will leave the nest.
I have noticed it now gets out on the cactus limbs and perches for hours at a time.
