Driving the Highways & Byways
of Arizona with Earle Robinson as he searches for Arizona Wild Life
*******************************************************
I just can't seem to stay away from the Grand Canyon.
I can remember the 1965 Robert Wise's song and movie
"The Sound of Music"
So I have decided to call this trip to the Grand Canyon
THE SOUNDS OF NUTCRACKERS
*********************************************************
While photographing the Clark's Nutcrackers I could hear some thing under my feet and all around under my chair digging up the ground, turning small rocks over but was to busy to take a good look. As long as it doesn't bit off my leg I didn't bother to worry about.
As it turned out, it was a very cute Canyon Wren, in fact there were several of them rooting around under my chair and between my feet, maybe I had dropped some bread crumbs or some thing they thought was good to eat.

Now that's what I call close. I had to change to a 60mm lens that had a macro setting.

AHH, come on ole Earle chuck us down a few crumbs, wont you??
I do not feed the wild life at the canyon because they say it is against the law. There are many other reasons not to do that also. However I will admit I may drop a few crumbs now and then when eating a sandwich or two. Sometimes they get into my camera bag and help then selves to what ever is in there. They are very good at pecking open those plastic sandwich bags I have found out.
**********************************************

OH boy, I found a small morsel of food under this piece of bark.
****************************************
Let me say again we are actually looking at several different birds.

If I got any closer I would be touching the bird.
These wrens don't seem to care how close I got with the camera.
********************************************************

While it was not looking I really zoomed in on it.

Please note the yellow eye.

******************************

I wanted you to see this view because of the chestnut color under its chin or upper breast area.
I could not find this type of marking in the book.
*****************************************************

Even the small birds like to perch on this dead over hanging branch.
