Here you'll discover the intricate beauty and many faces of Arizona's oldest botanical garden.
See desert plants from all over the world, towering trees, captivating cacti, sheer mountain cliffs,
a streamside forest, panoramic vistas, many natural habitats with varied wildlife,
a desert lake, miles of easy nature trails, a hide canyon, specialty gardens of herbs, desert legumes and more.

Founded in 1924 by mining magnate William Boyce Thompson,
this unique 300 acre mosaic of gardens and natural areas is both a
National Historic district and an Arizona State Park.

**********************************************************************

We've almost covered a good percentage of the Garden

But, we have not seen the lake or the tail around it.

Are You ready?
It's a real hill climber and is not rated for wheel chairs or folks with sever handy caps as to breathing.

Up-land is so correct.

Bring plenty of water & take care of the rest-room needs before you start.

*******************************************

*********************************

But what a view of the lake you get from up here.

Just to the left of this sign is another one of those interpretive centers.
If you sit there for a few minutes you might see what I saw.

12/11/02 - If you want to take a look at what I saw click HERE.

*******************************************

Well, that wasn't so bad now was it?
Inasmuch as your still sitting in your easy chair at home in front of your computer.

******************************************

See, here's one of those signs I was talking about. You just can not get lost here.

*************************************************

oooops, I see now I have been calling these places learning centers
when in reality they are interpretive stations, what a jolt.

************************

There are many of these through out the Garden.

*****************************

You see, each Interpretive center, will tell you about the area you are in.

*************************************

By the way as your are walking a long you may want to look down at the sandy path.

You just might recognized a friends foot or shoe print, there's plenty to choose from.

************************

I can see mine in there, but not yours.

***************************************

OH good, a down hill section.

**********************************************

OH NO, and just when I thought I had it made.

Another up-hill trek.
Hay ma hand me another jug of water would ya?

****************************

OH BOY, level ground at last, I thought I would never see level ground again.

Wonder what that sign says?

****************************************

*****************************

I think it's going to be down hill from here on.

*************************************************

OH look what I see up a head.

Another resting place, let'me at it.

***********************************************

Well, at least I can hang onto the rail as I walk now.
I think this is one of those musical paths.
That is if;
you don't look sharp you'll be flat.

***********************************************

Before we leave we had better take a quick look at the cactus garden.
