Fish Hook Barrel

At one time most cacti were called Echinocactus but now this genus consist of only six slow -growing species from the U. S. and Mexico.

When in flower, they produce a ring of open-faced flowers ranging from golden yellow to purple-red on the plant's crown.

The smaller ones are globular shaped and the larger ones are barrel-shaped.

The Barrel Cactus is some times refered to as the

"Mother-in-law's seat"
