The Star Fish Flower
Stapelis gettleffii
A very foul smelling flower, which gives these flowers or carrion plants the name of Star Fish Flower. South Africa, but very easily grown here in the U.S.. Some 100 species. Blooms are always 5 pedals. Colors range from mustard to deep maroon and most always appear at the base of the stems. Blooms can be as large as 10 to 12 inches across.
