This the Turtle you bought in the dime store years ago, thus it got the nick name The Dime Store Turtle. It is best identified by the bright red, orange, or yellow stripe just behind its eye eyes.
Not native to Arizona, however so many of these pets have turned loose over the years they are here now. They get up to approx. 12 inches in dia.
Shell can be olive to brown with patterns ranging from yellow strips to net works of fine lines and yellow spots.
Diet of vegetation & small aquatic animals. Young eat water insects, crustaceans, & tadpoles.
