Black-tailed Jack Rabbit

Approximately 25 inches long. Its tail has a black stripe on the top side extending on to its rump. Extremely long ears with a black tip on the to ends. This is not really a Rabbit but rather it is a Hare. Its young are born with a good coat of fur and they have their eyes open at birth. During the day it is inactive resting in the shade if possible and then becomes active in the late afternoon and night. I would venture a guess that it could weigh up to 20 pounds in some cases, and when it walks its back could be as high as 18 inches.
