Broad-tailed Hummingbird
Selasphorus platycercus

**********************************

This the Hummingbird that hear when it flies by.
It sounds like a harsh whistle.

This trill or whistle is produced by the outer primaries of the wing feathers.
From what I have seem during banding these feathers are very pointed.

Map and range not to any scale.
