baxterrobin@HOTMAIL.COM,

BEFORE WE PASS THROUGH THE GATES OF HUMMINGBIRD HEAVEN, LET'S TAKE SOME TIME TO EXPLAIN
JUST HOW TO GET THERE.

THERE'S HARDLY A WEEK GOES BY THAT SOME ONE DOESN'T ASK, HOW DO I GET TO THIS PLACE.

Hummingbird heaven is actually located in the back yard of Wally and Marion Paton in Patagonia, Arizona.

So many have told me, I was in Patagonia for several hours but never could find the Paton's

Well, here is exactly how to get there.

First of all I would like to suggests that you pick up a book called, "A Birders Guide To Southeastern Arizona" by Richard Cachor Taylor. It has maps and good directions on how to get to most all of the good birding places in Southeastern Arizona. OK, here's the scoop on how to get there. Wally & Marion Paton live at 477 Pennsylvania Avenue in Patagonia, Arizona. Pennsylvania avenue is 4 blocks north of the main street in town, which is State Route 82.

By the way, watch your speed while in town. They don't allow any overage on the speed limit.

Here's the way I always go.

Going west on state highway 82, turn to your right at 4th. Avenue. If your going east on state highway 82, turn left at 4th. Avenue. There is a small sign on the cornor with a pair of binoculars painted on it. On the other cornor there a Cowboy Bar.

Once you are on 4th. avenue, proceed to the end of the street. You will come to a T intersection, turn left. As soon as you pass or cross the dry creek ( Sonoita Creek ) the Paton's house will be the first house you come to on your left.

You should be able to notice the signs on their fence that goes across their front yard.

They say it's been 15 to 20 years since these two birds
were seen at the Paton's in Patagonia, Arizona.
