Yellow-crowned night heron is approximately 2 feet in length and has a 40 to 43 inches wing span.
Note the white cheek patch and the yellowish/white crown, grows head plumes in breeding season.
The full adult plumage is not until its third year.

I just couldn't resist this photo. It looks as if the bird has a peg leg.

But as you can see they do perch on one leg at times.
