In the beginning I talked about photography and filters?
Well maybe, if I were to show you what they do,
you would be more tempted to go out and buy one or two.

I will show several examples, besides you will love these canyon views I am about to show you.
The filters, and your ability to compose you photographs, will make the difference
between an image you may want to frame, and one you may not want to show to any one.
I will always show the non filtered image on the left side of your screen,
& the filtered image on the right side.
These images are with out any digital effects applied to them what you are seeing is what I saw through the viewfinder of my digital camera. |
You can see by the shadow the sun is off to my left as I look out at the canyon, so, I was able to use a circular polarizer filter. |
| Remember now, no filter on this side. | And filtered images will be on this side. |

In the above images, the ones above these, the photos were not of the same views. Here they are, and it may give you a better prospective of the change the filters make. In these two images you can see the sun is behind me and a little to the left, thus a circular polarizer filter would have no effect on the photos contrast so I used a color enhancing filter.
Remember now, these were all shot with a digital camera
and much better results will be achieved when using a film camera.

As you can see by the above photos, the canyon is a very beautiful site to photograph,
however try composing an image with some thing else in the picture to enhance the view.

Turn your camera up on end and take a vertical photo.
or perhaps you might try a horizontal image.
Same image I just made two exposures, one vertical and one horizontal.
The sun was over my right shoulder so I was able to take advantage of the polarizing filter.
You can still see the canyon in these photos, but the foreground enhances it a bit.
I was never off the hard paved walk way when taking these photographs.
