Like I said, if your time is short, and limited, take the Red line shuttle bus or what's called the Hermits Rest Route bus along what is called the west rim road tour.
The buss is free, and its not difficult to find where to catch it. There are signs all over the place. If your not staying in a lodge close to one of the departing stations, you can take the Blue line shuttle bus and tell them where you want to go.
You will find everyone will be very helpful in directing you to your destination. Each bus will have a free shuttle bus routing and rim view point map for you to take and keep.
This west rim view point bus will make 8 stops, at 8 different view points. You may get off, and look, as long as you want, and then, get back on the next bus to continue on you way. They will be coming along about every 12 to 15 minutes a part.
ALL - ABOARD
These are large buses and will hold many tourist.
After December 1 you will have to use your own car to drive to the different view points.
Until then you must take the tour bus.

The buses run every 10 to 15 minutes apart.

I am not an authority on vegetation so I won't attempt to
tell you what all of the vegetation is along the rim trail.
So, I ask the bus driver and he only thought he knew the names, so here goes.
These are called Snake Weeds?
****************
The above is called Cliff Rose?
*************************************
The trees that look all twisted and bent out of shape and have the shaggy/hairy bark, are the Juniper Pine.

These are the Pinyon Pine?
The brown stock in the center in the left photo is not a tree. I just thought it made the image look better.
Well I think we should start looking into the canyon about now.
