The clouds hung Ominously over the canyon that day as she pondered
if there would ever be another sunny day she could be soaring above the rim.

All of the Grand Canyon Condors have a numbered wing tag attached to there wing,
and we just photographed number 19 Condor, but in reality it is number 119.
The bird started out up quite high, but then, made a couple
of low passes over the canyon's edge right above me.

Like I said earlier, the Condor was quite high and quite away off, out over the canyon. Not knowing if it would come in any closer, I started taking photos of it at a very long distance. |

OH, it did come in closer, it flew right over our heads. It would then circle and fly over us again. Old number 19, you sure are a beautiful bird. Look at that 10 foot wing span, would ya. |

On April 29, 1997, an additional nine California Condors were transported to the same location on the Vermilion Cliffs. They were set free in two separate groups. A group of four were released on May 14, 1997 and the other five were released on may 26, 1997.
Condor 119--Tag # 19--A female, hatched at the San Diego Wild Animal Park on March 15, 1995. She was fathered by AC-2 and mothered by Inaja.
